Description

Artist’s Statement: Unfortunately polar bears have practically become the

poster child for the effects of global warming. The shrinking of the polar ice

cap and changing climate effects on migration are the primary causes for this

species fragility. This piece uses layers of delicate translucent fabrics to

emphasize their vulnerability.

Techniques: Hand drawing and painting, free motion quilting

Materials: Silk organza, cotton organdy, ballet net, Procion

dyes, fabric paints.
