- [Dog Gestalt](https://hollyleicole.com/product-category/dog-gestalt/) - I am a lifelong dog junkie. They are the gods of joy, but I also find them complex and emotionally layered creatures. I think of this series like an installation that tries to express a gamut of emotion looking at the sentient side of these animals. This species sees both the best and worst sides of humanity and my hope is that this work helps us understand their point of view better.
- [Veterans Series](https://hollyleicole.com/product-category/veterans-series/) - I admire the strength and endurance of these disappearing species in the face of losing their habitats, surviving the impact of climate change, and the threat of poaching for the exotic animal trade. I think of them as veterans in a tough war for survival. In this Veterans series I used up-cycled war surplus, used tarps, emergency homeless blankets, burlap sacking and cheesecloth to express their endurance and fragility. Not all the news on endangered species is grim. I honor the people who work hard to keep these creatures flourishing. In 2022, I started working with the Sheldrick Trust, to develop work that honors both the animals they save and their caregivers. Their work with orphaned animals is depicted here in the Endangered Animal Heroes quilt. NOTE: The Veterans Series are scheduled for a solo show in 2024 and will be unavailable for delivery (if purchased) until August, 2024.

Like us, they are hit very hard by climate change, greed, and indifference impacting their ever-shrinking worlds. Over the years I’ve explored many ways to express the fragility, appeal, and toughness of these disappearing animals. The pieces in the Vanishing series focus on the animals’ emotions and attitudes in their plight.
